Kurt Gruber IV, whose great-grandfather was an architect of a similar German organization in 1926, said any simiilarities with its European predecessor are coincidental and insubstantial.
"The connection that some have drawn between the OFA and the Hitler Youth League of German Youth is unfortunate," Gruber said, "because we really could have used the free publicity that this group deserves."
He said the primary difference between the two groups is that the OFA accepts Jewish students and has no genocidal objective. Another difference is that it recruits high school students rather than beginning with 14-year-olds.
"We found that the younger students were still prone to brainwashing by their parents," he said. "If we wait till our recruits are in high school,, we find that the youth are ready to assert their independence and are more likely to accept political principles with which their parents might disagree.
"We also don't dress our recruits in military-style uniforms. Instead, we offer t shirts with our great leader's image silk screened on them. If their parents won't allow them to wear those shirts, we have others showing Che Guevara or Mao Zedong. The shirts are quite attractive."
Gruber said OFA has recruited 411,000 students so far and expects to do even better as sponsors provide benefits for new recruits.
"George Soros has pledged to buy each student a new I-Pad as long as he or she signs a pledge to read the reading materials that we have pre-loaded for them," he said. "We're expecting to pass out least 100,000 recruits in May alone."
Asked to describe the purpose of OFA, he said its primary objective is to ensure that Obama is able to fulfill his primary promise to change America fundamentally.
"We're not talking about tweaking regulations," Gruber said, "but about fundamental change. That starts with amending the Constitution so that its flaws and blind spots are eliminated, reducing our citizens' reliance on capitalism, increasing the aid that the federal government supplies to its citizens, and eliminating the toxic partisanship that poisons our two-party system of politics."
Reporters were free to ask questions of Gruber's chief assistant, German-born Herr "Mango" Ring.
"How do you intend to accomplish those goals?" asked Wall Street Journal Finance Editor Ira A. Count.
"By reducing the size, scope, power and number of corporations and so-called small businesses," Ring replied. "By spreading the wealth to supply all of each person's basic needs regardless of social position, and by persuading voters to rid themselves of the right wing parasites known as Republicans.
"But I am not in charge of policy. I am in charge of indoctrinating our youth. If you would care to look over the recommended reading material that we give them to study, you can see that they are getting a very good education. I'm glad that our great leader saw fit that my hero, Saul Alinsky, is on that reading list with his Rules for Radicals."
Louis N. Clark of the Portland (Ore.) Tribune asked why OFA targets high school students who are too young to vote.
"We think they're the best route for us to reach their parents," Ring said. "A lot of their parents today never watch regular news channels, and so they don't see our side. If they're radio listeners, they usually listen to Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity and Glenn Beck and seldom hear even half an hour of the National Socialist Hour.
"We also show the students how to apply tried-and-true Democratic principles in their own lives, such as the importance of rejecting the internal combustion engine by riding their bikes to school, refusing to let their parents take them on vacations by jet airliners, and buying only recycled paper.
"They also are watchdogs for our society and can inform us when their parents are wasting precious natural resources by refusing to recycle their trash or compost their garbage. They also can ensure that televisions in the home are turned to the proper channel when our great leader is speaking. And we remember that it won't be long before our youth organizers will be old enough to vote."
Quote of the Day
""Ridicule is man's most potent weapon. It is almost impossible to counterattack ridicule. Also, it infuriates the opposition, who then react to your advantage."." — Saul Alinsky, Marxist radical author.
